Recipe of the Day: Jamaican Bean Burger


There are times when whether you are a vegan or not, you feel the need to avoid meat for a while, and this recipes definitely takes care of that. Mixing traditional fast food elements with healthy forms of protein and other nutrients, the Bean Burger is a tasty, easy, and quick lunch idea for anyone to take advantage of. For 3 people

  • 3 slice(s) tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon(s) parsley flakes
  • 1 can(s) Broad Beans
  • 3 whole hamburger buns
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 teaspoon(s) pickles or relish
  • 1 teaspoon(s) soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup(s) Instant Oats
  • 3 tablespoon(s) Mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 3 whole toothpicks
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1/4 cup(s) breadcrumbs
  • 3 whole lettuce leaves
  • 1 teaspoon(s) black pepper
  • 3 tablespoon(s) Vegetable Oil
  • 1 clove(s) garlic, minced

Bean Burgers Directions

Drain and mash the Broad Beans.  Add Instant Oats, breadcrumbs, garlic, onion, salt, black pepper, parsley flakes and soy sauce and combine well.

Beat egg white and add to mixture and mix well.  Divide the mixture into three equal portions and shape into burger patties.

Heat Vegetable Oil in a frying pan and fry burger patties on each side until golden brown.

To Serve: Spread Mayonnaise on the inside of each burger bun. Lay lettuce leaves, tomatoes and pickles or relish on  the bottom half, and then add the burger. Cover with the other half of the burger bun and secure with a toothpick.
